How to pass a prop firm challenge
Prop firms let you trade their capital once you prove you can manage risk in an evaluation. Most candidates do not fail because of their analysis, but because they break the risk rules.
Typical rules
- Profit target: usually 8–10%.
- Daily loss limit: usually 5%.
- Maximum loss: usually 10%.
- Minimum trading days: several days with trades.
A plan to pass
- Risk 0.5–1% per trade: you need about ten 2R winners to hit the target, but you can afford many losers.
- Never risk more than 1% when you are close to the daily limit.
- If you hit the target early, cut risk and complete the minimum days.
- Arrive with a track record: at least 100 simulated trades with positive expectancy.
